My First White Friend: Confessions on Race, Love and Forgiveness is an excellent read. It is more about race, love and forgiveness than the friend. Patricia Raybon really shared her heart and journey with us.

This was my second book by this author. I would love to read more of her by: The first part of the book is a series of essays on the life experiences of herself and her father, and the racial history of the country; it ends with "Letter to My First White Friend," a grateful acknowledgment of a white girl at her mostly white high school/5(23).

I would start it with a confession – talk flat out about race hate and what it had done to me, just pull out all the stops – and finish with a resolution or a "closure" to all of my racial mess.
